The only person talking about love thy brother is the preacher
and it seems nobody’s interested in learning but the teacher
Segregation, determination, demonstration, integration
Aggravation, humiliation, obligation to our nation
Ball of confusion
Oh yeah, that’s what the world is today
Woo, hey, hey.
Temptations – Ball Of Confusion
The Temptations came out with their hit single in 1970. At that time, they wanted to acknowledge the great confusion that permeated society. As you know, the 60’s and 70’s had their own unique sets of problems.
However, the same could be said of any decade, any century, or any millennium throughout history. The world has always been in a “bad place”. People have continuously lamented about the problems of their day. And for all the complaining that we have done about the years, there seems to be another truth stated: it gets worse, not better.
Perhaps all the lamentation about our day and age is because our world is still steeped in sin and we, instead of trying to rise above it, cooperate with it. We want what the world has to give. We succumb to the temptations (no pun intended) of the world instead of rejecting them.
Our world will always be a ball of confusion if we do not decide to do something about it. The change necessary can begin with a single person. That single person — perhaps, you? — needs to choose the Lord rather than the world. Choosing the Lord, that person will be an example to the next person to choose the Lord. Then, there will be two people who encourage two other individuals to choose the Lord.
Before you know it, the entire world can be focused on the Lord rather than on the lures of the world. Then, we will no longer be a ball of confusion. Then, we will more fully realize the Kingdom of God. Woo, hey, hey.
FAITH ACTION: Pray for all the people who contribute to confusion rather than to understanding, that they may change their ways and, in the process, contribute to changing our world for the better.
