“Infuse your life with action. Don’t wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen: yourself, right now, right down here on Earth.”
~Bradley Whitford
There are always two different groups of people for almost any situation. When it comes to experiencing life, there are two groups as well: the doers and the waiters.
Some people “get out there” and take charge of life. They are not afraid to experience all that may come their way. They know that they are going to take some falls, make some bad decisions, cause some problems for themselves. However, they go out with courage and excitement.
Then there are those who wait and see. They are timid and afraid. They do not want to make a wrong decision or wrong move. So, they make no decision and no move. They watch life go by as others involve themselves in things and they never experience much on their own.
People treat their faith lives just as they treat life on earth because, in many ways, they are one and the same. Some people sit around and wait to see what God is going to do or when God is going to call them.
Others realize that God is in all the decisions they make, leading and guiding them if they but remain open to Him. They go out into the world and change it for the better.
We are preparing to celebrate Pentecost tomorrow. When we do, we will celebrate that God gave us all the grace that we need to go and do. So, let’s go . . . and let’s do!
FAITH ACTION: Today, the Diocese of Gary is determining its future in a Synod. Pray for those involved, that they may help to clarify a vision and goal — short range and long range — for the diocese. Pray for our bishop, as well, that he have the grace to continue leading us in faithful love.
