Jesus said to the crowd:
“They will seize and persecute you,
they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons,
and they will have you led before kings and governors
because of my name.
It will lead to your giving testimony.
Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand,
for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking
that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.” (Lk 21:12-15)
One of the biggest fears that Christians have is the fear of “not knowing what to say” at any particular moment. What if they are called upon to testify to the faith? What will they say? What if someone needs some advice? What should they say? What if someone tells them they do not understand the faith? How shall they explain it?
The fear of not having the right words often paralyzes the Christian from speaking.
However, the fact of the matter is, if we trust the Lord, He will put the words into our mouths that we need to speak.
This is not rhetoric. This is not an empty promise. This is real stuff.
Over and over again, God has put His words into the mouths of those who believe in Him and trust in Him. From examples in the Old Testament to examples of people of faith today, we see that God, indeed, delivers.
All it takes is our stepping out of God’s way and trusting that He will be there for us.
FAITH ACTION: Before beginning anything important today, ask the Lord to give you the wisdom you will need to speak as His wishes.
