Jesus made the disciples get into a boat
and precede him to the other side of the sea,
while he dismissed the crowds.
After doing so, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. (Mt 14:22-23)
There was something that Jesus did rather regularly throughout His ministry: He went off by Himself to pray.
That is always a very good thing to do.
When we have others around us, we tend to get distracted too easily. When we are alone, on the other hand, we can remain focused.
Jesus had the weight of the world — literally — on Him and He needed the time to communicate with His Father.
While we might not have the weight of the world on our shoulders, it often feels like that. When we do feel that way, we need to remember that there is someone to whom we could turn, someone who will always be there, someone who is always listening, and someone who is in a position to help us.
But in order to get the help, we have to take the time to ask.
Do you find yourself “running on empty?” Make time for the Lord today.
FAITH ACTION: Create time to be alone with God today. Spend it in silence, spend it reading spiritual material, spend it in prayer. However, whatever it is, make sure that you spend the time alone so that you can focus on God and what He is trying to say to you.
