What Would You Write?

7 Jun

It is this disciple who testifies to these things
and has written them, and we know that his testimony is true.
There are also many other things that Jesus did,
but if these were to be described individually,
I do not think the whole world would contain the books
that would be written.  (Jn 21:24-25)

We say and hear over and over again:  God is good.  Yet, even as we say it, we oftentimes do not think about what that means.

How has God been good to us?  In how many ways has He blessed us?

If we would take the time to think about that, I believe each and every one of us would be overwhelmed.

St. John is so correct.  If everything Jesus has done for us could possibly be inscribed, there are not enough books in the world that could contain them.  There would not be enough paper on which to write them.  There would be no way that we could catalog all of them.

BUT, that does not mean that we should not think about all that He has done for us.  Because, if we do not reflect upon them, we slip into a sense of entitlement.  We face the jeopardy of beginning to presume upon God’s great love and His many gifts.

We should never take God for granted.

Nor should we fail to give Him His due for all that He has done for us.

FAITH ACTION:  Take some time today to think about all the things that the Lord has done for you throughout your life.  Don’t forget to thank Him!
