See what love the Father has bestowed on us
that we may be called the children of God.
Yet so we are.
The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
Beloved, we are God’s children now;
what we shall be has not yet been revealed.
We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him,
for we shall see him as he is. (1 Jn 3:1-2)
So many people spend so much of their energy trying to make other people like them. They think that if they do something special or say something special or go out of their way somehow that they can be liked.
What generally happens is that they find themselves disappointed because, for one reason or another, they do not “measure up” to others.
Then, they begin to think that they need to do something special or say something special or go out of their way somehow so that God will like them.
Guess what?
There’s no need to do that because God likes them already. As a matter of fact, God loves them already.
Even more, Jesus died for them already so that they will have the opportunity to come home to Him at the end of their days.
That is the extremely simple yet wonderfully profound truth presented to us in today’s reading. We are God’s children now.
Don’t hope for that because it already exists. Instead, celebrate it!
FAITH ACTION: Pray for those who feel estranged from God that they might experience His presence and His incredible love.
