Seek good and not evil,
that you may live;
Then truly will the Lord, the God of hosts,
be with you as you claim! (Am 5:14)
People spend an absurd amount of money on schemes to live longer. As long as people have the desire, there will be others who sell them a bill of goods.
There is no fountain of youth. There is no magic cure “for what ails ya”. There is nothing that can make you live forever.
At least, not here on this earth.
But there is a place where we will live forever. That is in the age to come. If we want to be a part of eternal life rather than eternal death, we need to do something about it now.
“Seek good and not evil.”
What a wonderful prescription.
And so true.
If we want to live with the Lord in eternity, we have to be a people who are willing to seek good and do good. If not, we are fooling ourselves and will end up in everlasting horror.
Seeking good and doing good is the recipe for eternal life. It is what pleases God. It is what we all need.
The wonderful thing about that is the “side effect” benefit for seeking good and doing good. I just may prolong our lives here on earth so that we may enjoy what the Lord has given to us. People who are happy tend to live longer and with better quality.
Nothing makes a person happier than seeking good and doing good. Statistics prove that over and over again.
If you do not believe it, just try it.
Here’s to your health — do good!
FAITH ACTION: Evaluate your plans for today. Ask yourself what you can do to promote good for another. Then, do it.
