Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord,
when I will raise up a righteous shoot to David;
As king he shall reign and govern wisely,
he shall do what is just and right in the land. (Jer 23:5)
The prophets foretold the coming of the Messiah, the Lord of truth and justice, who would lead His people rightly.
For ages, God’s people waited for that Lord. In the fullness of time, an angel of God was dispatched to Mary, asking her to become the Mother of the Lord. She, the faithful handmaid, said “yes” to God’s will.
This caused great consternation to Joseph, Mary’s intended. When she told him the news that she was pregnant, Joseph decided to divorce her quietly rather than to expose her to the fullness of the law which would allow her to be stoned to death.
Joseph had made up his mind when an angel came to him as well — in a dream — and told him that Mary was, indeed, pregnant with the Son of God. Knowing that, Joseph took Mary as his wife and did all that he could to raise and protect Jesus.
We may not have all the answers. Heck, we may never even know all the questions. One thing is certain. Jesus is Lord and He invites us to bring in His Kingdom by being faithful and embracing the will of His Father.
FAITH ACTION: Ask the Lord to open your eyes to His will so that you may accept it completely and enthusiastically.
