O King of all nations and keystone of the Church:
come and save man, whom you formed from the dust!
It was of Him that Isaiah prophesied: “For a child is born to us, a son is given us; upon his shoulder dominion rests. They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever, Prince of Peace.” (Is 9:5)
Tomorrow is the last full day of Advent. The day after that is Christmas Eve. “The day” is almost upon us.
It is a day that can catch us unaware if we have not used this season to prepare ourselves spiritually to greet the Lord.
Remember, Christmas is more than the celebration of a birthday. Christmas is also the reminder that Christ, once born to us, will come again in His eternal majesty to judge us and bring home those who have been faithful.
Jesus is the King of all people. He is the one who came to save us from sin and death.
However, we must live as His loyal subjects if we are to have the possibility to go home to Him one day.
FAITH ACTION: Spend some time in quiet prayer today preparing to celebrate Christmas. Clear your mind of the clutter of the season and focus upon the true meaning of the day: Jesus.
[For those of you who live in the area, to help you prepare, we are having Lessons and Carols in our church tonight at 6:00 p.m. This service of scripture and hymns/carols will truly get you into the spirit of the season! All are welcome to attend. There is no admission fee.]
