Say not, “I am too young.”
To whomever I send you, you shall go;
whatever I command you, you shall speak.
Have no fear before them,
because I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD. (Jer 1:7-8)
- I’m too young.
- I don’t have the experience.
- I’m afraid.
- I’m not sure I can do this as good as the other person.
- I’ve never done this before.
- I don’t want to get involved
The list can go on and on.
So many people make excuses throughout their lives for not doing things. It could be that they are frightened. It could be that they have never done it before. It could be that they are inexperienced.
However, if someone gets a call to do something, the one doing the calling must have seen something special in that person that prompted the call.
Jesus sees something special in us.
He sees past our fears, our doubts, our inexperience and all our other myriad excuses. He sees to the very core of our being. He knows that inner core because He is the architect of all that we are.
If He calls, He’s got a good reason for doing so.
If He calls, we could never come up with the best excuse not to listen.
Don’t say no today.
FAITH ACTION: As you pray today, try to recollect the number of ways you have been saying no to God. Ask Him to give you the grace that you need for an unreserved “yes.”
