After making the crossing to the other side of the sea,
Jesus and his disciples came to land at Gennesaret
and tied up there.
As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him.
They scurried about the surrounding country
and began to bring in the sick on mats
to wherever they heard he was.
Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered,
they laid the sick in the marketplaces
and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak;
and as many as touched it were healed. (Mk 6:53-56)
There is good news in recognizing the Lord: He brings healing with Him!
There are many people in our world who do not recognize the Lord.
Why?
Most likely because they have totally immersed themselves in the world with all of its promises that can never, truly, be fulfilled. Oh, sure, the world may be able to provide a modicum of success and happiness. However, it will not last long. That is because the world is rooted in sin and not in God.
Sin can bring us only darkness and despair, illness and, ultimately, death.
God, on the other hand, brings us light and fulfillment, happiness and peace, as well as eternal life.
But, as I said earlier, we need to be able to recognize the Lord in order to receive those benefits.
We are most able to recognize the Lord when we busy ourselves doing the works of the Lord.
Let us get with it today.
