Blessed the man who follows not
the counsel of the wicked
Nor walks in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the company of the insolent,
But delights in the law of the Lord
and meditates on his law day and night. (Ps 1:1-2)
We all have choices to make in our daily lives.
And we all make those choices.
Some of the choices we make are good ones.
Some? Not so good.
We tend to make poor choices when we do not reflect upon the laws of God but, rather, rely upon the whims and the prompting of the world in which we live.
Remember, this world is tainted by the corruption of sin. It cannot possibly lead us in a direction that is good.
Oh, it might look, for a time, as if we are going the right way and/or doing the right thing. However, if our decisions are steeped in the “wisdom” of the world, they will soon crumble around us.
The law of the Lord, on the other hand, will always lead us in the right direction.
It might not be comfortable.
It might lead us in ways we would rather not trod and have us do things we would rather not do. However, if we embrace God’s will, those ways trodden and those things done will all help us grow closer to God, no matter how uncomfortable they may be.
Do we want to be blessed this day? Follow the counsel of the Lord and not of the world.
FAITH ACTION: Consider the choices you need to make today. Are they choices that God would be proud of?
