Serve The Master

15 May

When Jesus had washed the disciples’ feet, he said to them:
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master
nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.
If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.”  (Jn 13:16-17)

Service.

That is one of the hallmarks of a Christian.

Pure, loyal, undivided service.

Jesus washed the feet of the disciples at the Last Supper.  That symbol was a teaching for them about how they should go out and wholeheartedly serve the world.

We were all washed clean of sin and death by our baptism.  That baptismal rite changed everything in our world.  It cleansed us.  It gave us new life.  It incorporated us into the family of God.  It gave us an everlasting heritage.

If we are children of God, we must live that way.

Service needs to be more than a word.

It needs to be more than an occasional discussion.

It needs to be a lived reality.

Daily.

FAITH ACTION:  What can you do for someone today to show that you serve the Lord?
