Let brotherly love continue.
Do not neglect hospitality,
for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels. (Heb 13:1-2)
If anyone is looking for a good reason to be kind to strangers, the above would definitely qualify as good advice!
The simple truth is that we do not know those around us. Oftentimes, it is because we do not care about those around us. Our world sends clear signals that it is okay to be selfish, to look out only for our own good, and to ignore the needs of others.
Because of that, simple conventions such as kindness to others often goes down the drain.
However, there is a need to be kind to others: Jesus wouldn’t have it any other way. And lest we forget, Jesus dwells in all of His people. The parable of the sheep and goats often comes to my mind. Jesus talked about two groups who did or did not help others and found out that, in the process, they did or did not help the Lord.
God is all around us. He speaks to us through His nature. He speaks to us through His people. We need to do all that we can to recognize Him so that we can respond to Him. The best way to do so? Reach out in kindness to all those around us.
FAITH ACTION: Make it a point to do something kind today for someone you may not know.
