Behold, I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears my voice and opens the door,
then I will enter his house and dine with him,
and he with me. (Rv 3:20)
When I was growing up, I would see the picture of Jesus knocking at the door and I would think to myself, “I wish He would knock on our door some day.”
I know that it was a very juvenile thought, but it was a real desire.
Come to think of it, it still is.
Wouldn’t it be great to hear the doorbell ring or a knock at the door and open it up to find Jesus standing there?
Well, in many ways, that happens to us each day.
He may not be knocking at the physical door of our homes; but, He knocks at the spiritual door of our hearts, our souls. He hopes that we will fling the door open to let Him in.
Jesus calls to us, He beckons, He knocks, He does all sorts of things to get our attention. However, we appear to surround ourselves with the noises of the world which drown out the Lord’s call, the Lord’s knocking.
Instead of being reluctant to let the Lord in, we have to have that child-like innocence that desires nothing more than to welcome the Lord into our lives.
FAITH ACTION: We welcome the Lord by word and by deed. What can you do or say today to let the Lord know that you want Him to walk into your life?
