Blessed the man who follows not
the counsel of the wicked
Nor walks in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the company of the insolent,
But delights in the law of the Lord
and meditates on his law day and night. (Ps 1:1-2)
There is much to be said for meditating upon God’s law.
We spend so much of our day trying to control everything around us. We do all that we can to make sure that the day goes our way. We avoid obstacles at all cost. We try to maximize our performance. We are constantly focused upon ourselves.
However, when we do that, we tend to run the risk of doing what we want to do rather than accomplishing God’s will.
God has something in store for each one of us. He has a plan. He has a goal. He wants our cooperation in getting this done.
It would do well for us to reflect upon God first thing each day and to ask God to open our minds and hearts to His will for us. Doing so, we need to ask for His grace to accept His will. Focusing on God rather than ourselves, we will be able to serve Him better.
Isn’t that what we truly want?
FAITH ACTION: Begin and end your day with prayer this day. If you already do so, take a little longer time to reflect upon God’s great love for you.
