“If you’re reading this…
Congratulations, you’re alive.
If that’s not something to smile about,
then I don’t know what is.”
― Chad Sugg
There are many times in our lives where we forget what it is all about. We make our lives more complicated than they should be. When we wake up in the morning, the only thing we should think about is the pure joy of taking in a breath and realizing that we have been given another day of life to enjoy. We should not be worried about our day. We should not be upset about the day before. We should not fear tomorrow. We, simply, should enjoy the present.
It takes a lot of faith to do that, though. Enjoying the present means that we have to acknowledge that we had nothing to do with it. It was a pure gift from God. We did not construct it. We cannot maintain it. We will not be able to preserve it. All we can do is relish it because once the moment is gone, we will not be able to retrieve it.
Life is about moments. It is a collection of moments. Hundreds of moments. Millions of moments. Billions of moments. Each unique. Each special. Each irreplaceable. The sooner we recognize that, the sooner we can put our lives into perspective. We are, after all, not God. Not by a long shot. We are merely God’s people. We do not have to worry about bringing the sun up in the morning or setting it at night. We do not have to worry about bringing the rain from the skies to water the earth. We do not have to worry about producing the gentle breezes that caress the plants in the fields.
Come to think about it, we do not have to worry at all. All we have to do is step aside and let God do what He wills.
Do not worry about what God has in store for you today. Instead of worrying, just humbly accept His gift of this day and let it unfold as God designs.
FAITH ACTION: Revel in simple pleasures today. Life, love, joy, hope: they are all gifts to us from a loving God.
