Why should I fear in evil days
when my wicked ensnarers ring me round? (Ps 49:6)
Fear is a very real problem for many people. Quite simply put, it is awful to live in fear. Fear can cause someone to make tragic mistakes. Fear can immobilize. Fear can destroy.
We are not supposed to live in fear. Why?
Because we were not made to fear. We were made, instead, to rejoice in a God who loves us.
When we allow fear into our lives, we lose sight of the loving God.
The psalmist knew that, which is why he said, “Why should I fear in evil days when my wicked ensnarers ring me round?”
He knew that, even if here were ringed round by enemies, his God was with him, leading him, guiding him, and, ultimately, delivering him.
We have no need to fear. There is absolutely nothing that can happen to us that God cannot make better. Nothing.
So, fear not!
FAITH ACTION: Pray for those who are immobilized by fear — that they may feel the peace of the Lord come into their lives.
