“Life is not meant to just zoom from the womb to the tomb. Slow down. Enjoy the Journey!” ~ Unknown
The other day, as I was running errands, I noticed that the town had trucks out putting Christmas decorations up along the side of several of our roads. Christmas, it seems, begins earlier each year. This year, a week or more before Halloween, many stores already had their Halloween candy on discount because they were filling their aisles with Christmas candy and goods. We cannot celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving anymore without Christmas staring us in the face.
We do that with most of our lives. We rush from place to place, encounter to encounter, experience to experience, all the while focusing upon what is yet to come. Our minds and hearts get so into the future that we cannot even appreciate the present. This cannot do us any good as it creates so much stress to keep up.
We definitely need to slow down. Focusing upon the present rather than on what is to come will help us get as much possible out of each moment. Today is too filled with richness to allow it to go by because we are already focusing upon tomorrow. God is not missing today and going to show up tomorrow. God is already here.
FAITH ACTION: Take some time to yourself today, asking God to give you inner peace.
