“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word.” (Lk 1:38a)
Today is the Solemnity of the Annunciation.
Well, actually, not today. The Annunciation is March 25th but since March 25th fell during Holy Week this year, the celebration was moved to the first available day. We could not celebrate it last week because of the Octave of Easter.
On the Annunciation, we remember Mary’s faithful and selfless “Yes” to God.
She was frightened — the angel had to reassure her and tell her not to fear — and confused; however, she knew something very important: she was the handmaid of the Lord. Therefore, if God asked her to do something, it was going to be done. Simple as that.
We are God’s children.
We should have that same attitude.
God calls us to continue the work of His Son.
What say you?
FAITH ACTION: As did Mary, make sure that you say “Yes!” to God today.
