Today is the feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We call Christ our King. We accord the title of “Queen” to His Immaculate Mother.
Mary is a wonderful example to each and every one of us.
After all, she, like us, waited for the Lord to deliver His people. She was called to participate in that deliverance in a very intimate way by becoming the Mother of Jesus.
However, we are called to participate in the plan of God ourselves in a variety of ways.
St. Teresa of Avila reminded us of that in a spiritual poem that is quite famous:
Christ has no body now on earth but yours,
no hands but yours,
no feet but yours,
Yours are the eyes through which to look out
Christ’s compassion to the world
Yours are the feet with which he is to go about
doing good;
Yours are the hands with which he is to bless men now.
Mary showed us the way to happiness and peace: Say “yes” to God. Be His hands, His feet & His eyes this day!
FAITH ACTION: Pray the fifth decade of the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary — Mary is crowned as Queen of heaven and earth.
