“Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.” ~ Unknown
That’s a pretty intuitive statement, is it not? If we turn our face to the sun all the shadows will fall behind us because the sun is in our face. We will be able to feel its warmth. We will be able to use its light to guide our steps. Being in the light is always preferable to being in the dark.
Not only do we need the sun, we also need the Son. There is light and darkness in our world — as we find out at this time of year especially at the time change — and there is light and darkness in our spiritual lives. Just as the sun gives light and warmth to our planet, the Son of God gives light and warmth to our soul.
If we turn our faces to the Son of God, the darkness of sin will fall behind us and not be able to touch us. If, on the other hand, we give ourselves over to darkness, we will not be able to find our way. We need the light and should do everything we can to stay in it.
The light of Christ has come into the world and the darkness of sin and death cannot overcome it. Don’t let darkness overcome you. Turn your face to the light. Turn your face to the Son.
FAITH ACTION: As you begin your day, make sure that you turn to the Son for direction.
