After making the crossing to the other side of the sea,
Jesus and his disciples came to land at Gennesaret
and tied up there.
As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him.
They scurried about the surrounding country
and began to bring in the sick on mats
to wherever they heard he was.
Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered,
they laid the sick in the marketplaces
and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak;
and as many as touched it were healed. (Mk 6:53-56)
God is extremely generous. He is generous in that He shared His life with us, creating us in His image and likeness. He is generous in that He shared His Son with us, who died and rose from the dead to set us free from sin and death. He is generous in that He continuously allows His love to flow over us, bringing us healing and peace.
How lucky the people in the Gospel were to be able to see Jesus in the flesh. Imagine the excitement as Jesus healed all who came to Him. Imagine the joy knowing that you had been set free from debilitating illness or disease.
So many times people say to themselves, “I wish I could have seen that back then” and fail to recognize the presence of God in their lives right now.
The Gospel was not a one-shot deal. The healing, love, and mercy of God did not end when Jesus ascended to heaven. It continues right on through today.
Look for it. Count on it. Pray for it.
FAITH ACTION: Carve out some time in your schedule today merely to sit in silence and let the peace and love of God flow over you. Place into His hands any petitions for healing that you may have and/or need.
