“Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.”
~
People who are truly in love know each other inside and out. They can vouch for one another’s feelings. They can predict what each other would say in any situation. They are, in many ways, two sides of the same coin. That’s what love does to people. It binds them in unique relationships.
Our love for God should be just as binding. On His part, God is definitely all in. He is so all in, as a matter of fact, that He actually dwells in each and every one of us. Our souls were created in God’s own image and likeness. You can’t get much closer than that. We, on the other hand, often fail in the relationship thing when it comes to God. As all in as God is, we are often all out. There are many times that we do not even think about Him.
God thinks about us all the time. He looks upon us all the time. He shelters us with His love all the time. He pours His grace into our hearts all the time. Why are there occasions that we do not even give Him the time of day?
I’ll tell you why: the world. We are created beings living in a world steeped in sin. The world wants to get into us and the world wants us to give ourselves over to it. But, the world is not our ultimate destination. The world cannot deliver us from sin and death. The world cannot do anything except fill our hearts with empty promises and unfulfilled desires.
Don’t confuse desire with love. Don’t confuse lust with love. Don’t confuse yearning with love. Love is pure and true. Love is of God. Love is God. If we fill ourselves with love, we draw ever closer to God Himself. That is our true goal.
Don’t be afraid to pursue God and don’t be afraid to pour yourself totally into Him. Let Him know how much you care for Him today.
FAITH ACTION: Give God some of your most valuable time today, letting Him know that your love for Him is greater than your pursuit of worldly gain.
