“My father used to say that stories are part of the most precious heritage of mankind.”
~ Tahir Shah, In Arabian Nights: A Caravan of Moroccan Dreams
This week, our students have been celebrating a special heritage: Catholic Schools Week. We are proud of our parish school because, through the years, it has provided an opportunity for many students to receive a faith-based education that would prepare them for their future. Some of our students have gone on to be valedictorians or salutatorians in high school or college, some have gone on to advanced studies, some have served or are serving in the military, some have become doctors, nurses, therapists, lawyers, accountants, and other upstanding individuals.
We are proud and grateful that we have a fine heritage upon which to build for our present students as well as for all those future students who will come to our school. We are also proud of our administration, faculty, and staff who support our school by making many personal sacrifices. They do what they do because they believe in our mission and are committed to our students.
That, truly, is what life is all about. We claim to be Christian. If we are committed to the cause, we will do everything within our power to transmit the faith to any who wish to learn about it. We will make sacrifices if and when necessary because we believe in the mission and know that our reward is not here on earth but in the Kingdom to come.
Never be ashamed of your heritage of faith. Stand up for it. Proclaim it. Live it. And know that all the sacrifices that you make for it will be more than worth it in the end.
FAITH ACTION: Live the faith proudly today and share it with as many people as possible.
