“If only my people would hear me,
and Israel walk in my ways,
Quickly would I humble their enemies;
against their foes I would turn my hand.” (Ps 81:14-15)
“If you need something to be done, do it yourself.”
That is, pretty much, the “rule” that so many people live by here on earth.
If you need something, you are the only one to be able to fulfill it. Don’t you dare ask anyone else for help. That will show the world that you are weak, needy, whatever.
That was definitely the lesson that my father taught to me and his sons.
However, as nice as it is to be self-sufficient, we also need to be able to identify the times when we cannot do it on our own and not be afraid to ask the Lord for help. If only we would hear Him and walk in His ways, He would quickly come to our aid.
Don’t do it on your own today.
Don’t be afraid to ask the Lord for His help.
FAITH ACTION: What is on your to-do list for today? Ask the Lord to be a part of your day and make room for Him to act.
