The Grace To Accept What Comes Our Way

“If the rain spoils our picnic, but saves a farmer’s crop, who are we to say it shouldn’t rain?” ~ Tom Barrett

As you know, I go through different web sites each day looking for different quotes upon which to base the daily reflection.  I try to match the reflection with what is happening at the present time, in order to make the reflections as “fresh” as possible.  So, it should come as no surprise, I scoured the internet for quotes about rain.  However, the quote for which I sought was a quote saying why rain should not bother our plans.  How rain should respect our schedules.  How rain should behave for us.

We don’t like to be inconvenienced by the rain, or the snow, or drought, or dust storms, or, or, or.  But, who are we to say it shouldn’t rain?  Rain does more than ruin plans.  Rain also provides much needed sustenance to our earth.  After prolonged periods of no rain, you can almost hear the earth sighing when the first minutes of rain begin.  The plants perk up.  The trees become replenished.  And all is right with the world.

So, if we need to plans because of the weather, well, so be it.  God knows what He is doing and God will help us as we attempt to live as He wishes.  We count on that.

FAITH ACTION:  Ask God to give you the grace to accept and to learn from whatever comes your way in this life.
