Jesus Is Undefeated
“There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope.” ~Bernard Williams
There is absolutely nothing worse, in my opinion, that the feeling of losing hope. Hope is what keeps all of us going. Hope helps us in times of distress. Hope helps us to cope with suffering. Hope tells us that there is a way out of darkness and into the light.
Terrorists always operate by attempting to generate fear so that people lose hope. They want their targets to feel hopeless because we all know that, when we feel hopeless, we often give up trying. Terrorists are not the only ones who operate on this level. The devil does as well. The devil does his best to instill fear into our hearts so that we give up hope. If we give up all hope, we give up clinging to God. And if we give up clinging to God, the devil wins.
We should do everything possible to make sure that does not happen. There is no way that the devil can win if we place ourselves in God’s hands. God will not let His people be snatched from Him once they entrust themselves into His care. Make sure that you do just that today: entrust yourself to God.
This might sound like a rather easy thing to do. It is not. The world tries to lure us away from God with all sorts of glamorous promises. Make no mistake about it, the world’s promises are very tempting. They are promises of riches and fame and all sorts of reward. However, all those promises, all that glamour, are empty. They cannot be fulfilled. Some people find that out way too late.
There is an old saying that would definitely apply to the lures of the world: If it looks too good to be true, it’s not true. Do not be lured away from God by false glamour and empty promises. Rather, hold on to the sure thing: Jesus Christ.
FAITH ACTION: Do not concentrate upon sorrow, anxiety, or distress. Rather, concentrate upon the hope given to you by Christ this day.
