Start Writing Your Story Today

Ernest Hemingway’s quote really hits me. For a long time, now, I have been trying to write the best I can. Sometimes, I think what I have written was horrible. Sometimes, I think what I have written was passable. Sometimes, I think what I have written was half-way decent. And, a few times, I think what I have written was not written by me because it was too good.
That is the way that it goes when we give ourselves completely to God. The exercise is not to produce way over our potential. The exercise is to make sure that we produce, each day, and at all times. When we give ourselves to the Lord over and over again, we find that we produce a variety of things. Sometimes, our giving ourselves over is minimal, at best. At those times, we cannot expect to produce phenomenally. However, God is pleased with our effort.
But, when we throw ourselves all in, we find that God takes what we have given — as imperfect as it may be in our frail, human condition — and pours His Spirit into what we have done, thus producing wonderful results.
God does not look for a superb product. God looks for a willing heart. When our hearts are willing, we can do all sorts of wonderful things through Him.
Ernest Hemingway may have thought that a lot of his writing was barely passable while, sometimes, being better than he could write. Yet, he stuck to his writing and, today, is a household name. He has been read and studied far and wide. The places that he has lived have been visited by serious followers of his style.
If we invest the same passion into living our faith, we will be remembered as well. If we could touch the world each day, giving what we have and knowing that God will multiply what we are giving, the world could become an incredible taste of the world to come.
FAITH ACTION: Make sure that, in all you do today, you are busy doing the works of the Lord. His story, His message, must get out into our world.
