The Need To Act

“An error we refuse to correct has many lives. It takes courage to face one’s own shortcomings, and wisdom to do something about them.”Edgar Cayce

It really is sad to think that so many times, the trouble we find in our lives is of our own doing. Oftentimes, it is because we failed or refused to correct a situation and thought that it would “go away”. We should all know by now that does not happen. Uncorrected situations sit back and grow until they come back at us again and usually at the most inopportune time.

The biggest reason for not correcting situations? The lack of courage. Because of fear, pride, arrogance, or a whole host of other issues, we end up letting something go. What we need to do is muster the courage that we need and address our problems.

Problems will never go away on their own.

Let me repeat that for the sake of committing it to memory: problems will never go away on their own. We need to quit pretending that they will. Instead, we should ask God for the grace and courage that we need to address our problems and our issues so that we can keep on track in our lives. Because failing to correct errors will definitely cause distraction in our lives when they reappear. Those distractions will lead to us losing our focus on the Lord. Nothing good can happen when we lose our focus on God.

When we have problems, we need to quit looking for people to blame or situations to blame. Rather, we have to take the time to examine ourselves, see where we went wrong, acknowledge our own error/fault, and then make a plan to fix things. This should go without saying; however, once we make a plan, we actually need to put that plan into action.

FAITH ACTION: Face up to your shortcomings and do what you need to do to make corrections at home, at work, or in relationships.
