Don’t Wait Any Longer

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”  ~ Anne Frank

“I don’t want to do it.  You do it.”  “No.  I don’t want to do it.  You do it.”  “No.  I don’t want to do it, either.  You do it.”  Well, will somebody please just do it already!  There are many times that, as I view circumstances around the world, I think that I am watching an extended version of The Three Stooges.  So many things are in disarray and so many things need to be accomplished; but, everybody is waiting for somebody else to do it.

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”  We need to hear those sage words today.  Instead of looking for other people to do what needs to be done, what’s wrong with doing it ourselves?  We know what’s right.  Do it.  We know what’s noble.  Do it.  We know what’s virtuous.  Do it.  We know what the Lord wants us to do.  Do it.

Our doing the work of the Lord might just prime the pump and help others to get started as well.  That is a part of our human nature.  We always seem to look for someone else actually to begin the work that needs to be done.  We have no problem jumping in and helping.

We have a problem with initiating the work.  We think to ourselves, “What if I’m wrong?  What if this is not what is supposed to be done?”  Did you ever stop to think that most everyone else has that same narrative running through their heads?  If they see someone else — YOU — begin the work, they will be prone to join in.

Don’t wait for “someone” to do good.  Don’t wait for “someone” to help others.  Don’t wait for “someone” to stand up for what’s right.  Be that someone and begin to improve the lives of others around you today.

FAITH ACTION:  This very day, be the change, be the good, be the right that you long to see in the world.
