Be Kind. Just Be Kind

“There are three ways to ultimate success:  The first way is to be kind.  The second way is to be kind.  The third way is to be kind.”  ~ Mr. Rogers

Our world is not a very kind place.  It seems more people go off on others rather than caring for others.  Look at the feelings generated by the recent impeachment proceedings.  Look at how people of races and cultures are often caught up in hatred and violence.  It seems that no one can merely disagree with others anymore.  No.  “If you disagree with me, I must destroy you.”  That is the message that is oft acted out nowadays.

Mr. Rogers had it right.  First and foremost, be kind.  Jesus said that as well:  First and foremost, love one another.  Being kind, loving one another, will not lead us to hate.  It will not lead us to act out violently.  It will not lead us to want to destroy those who do not agree with us.  Kindness and love will lead us to do all that we can to understand one another and to seek peace.

Is peace impossible?  I do not believe that.  I think that peace is very possible.  However, if we are to have peace, we must do away with all that separates us from one another.  We must quit living according to the rules of the world and begin living by the rules of the Kingdom of God.

Love, mercy, forbearance, understanding, compassion and the like are all fruits of the Kingdom.  If we truly believe in God and place our hope and trust in the Lord, we will do all that we can to live in peace with one another, to love one another, and to be kind to all.

This is not some pipe dream.  It can be done.  Are you willing to give it a try?

FAITH ACTION:  Be kind today.  Just be kind.
