You Gotta Have Faith

12 Nov

The Apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”
The Lord replied, “If you have faith the size of a mustard seed,
you would say to this mulberry tree,
‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”  (Lk 17:5-6)

Faith.

It is the topic of many books, speeches, and sermons.

It is the missing ingredient in many people’s lives.

It is necessary for salvation.

It is present to us — each and every one of us — if we but ask.

God plants the seed of faith in each of us and He asks us to nourish that seed and let it grow.

If we do, Jesus tells us that we could do wondrous things.

Doubt tears at the seed of faith each day of our lives.

It is up to us to decide what we are going to do: doubt or believe.

FAITH ACTION:  Like the father who came to Jesus for help for his son, we echo his fervent plea today:  “I do believe, help my unbelief!”
