Who Are We?

30 Jan

After Nathan had spoken to King David,
the king went in and sat before the Lord and said,
“Who am I, Lord God, and who are the members of my house,
that you have brought me to this point?
Yet even this you see as too little, Lord God;
you have also spoken of the house of your servant
for a long time to come:
this too you have shown to man, Lord God!”  (2 Sm 7:18-19)

Who are we?

In short, we are very special because we are God’s children.

The knowledge is wondrous, exciting knowledge, is it not?

Yet, at the same time, it is so very overwhelming.

King David felt that after Nathan, the prophet, spoke to him about the promises God had made to David.  David’s kingdom would endure and from his kingdom would come the Promised One.

God makes many promises to us as well.  He tells us that, if we remain faithful to Him, we have no need to worry.  God will take care of us.  God will lead us.  God will guide us.  God will provide everything necessary for us.

The problems that we often encounter in life come about when we decide that we are going to do things on our own rather than rely on God.  If we would make sure that God comes first in our lives, we would have no need to worry.

After Nathan spoke to him, David knew there was only one thing to do: sit before the Lord and give Him the praise that was His due.

That sounds like a perfectly good idea!

FAITH ACTION:  As David did, sit before the Lord this day and give God fitting praise for all that He has done for you and for all that He will do for you.
