Where Do You Find The Lord?

15 Feb

Amen, I say to you, whatever you did
for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.  (Mt 25:40)

The parable of the sheep and the goats reminds us that we encounter the Lord in every person we meet.

The amazing thing is that neither the sheep nor the goats realize that they are affecting the Lord.

They both go their merry way through life, some helping and others refusing to aid anyone.

They do it, presumably, because of their disposition.  Some are disposed to help others and some are not.

They both hear the admonition — I was in these, my little ones — and they both act surprised.

But the sheep act surprised in a loving, caring, joyful way.  To them, it is a wondrous surprise to know that they touched the life of the Lord.

The goats, on the other hand, respond almost as if to say, “Well, if we knew that it was you, we would have helped.”

That’s not what the Lord wants, though.

He doesn’t want us to help people just to secure gold stars for ourselves in heaven.

He wants us to help others because it is the right thing to do.

What is your disposition?  Are you disposed to help all you meet or do you really not care?

FAITH ACTION:  Acknowledge the Lord in all you meet today.
