We Will Be Forged Anew

11 Dec

I will help you, says the Lord;
your redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.
I will make of you a threshing sledge,
sharp, new, and double-edged,
To thresh the mountains and crush them,
to make the hills like chaff.
When you winnow them, the wind shall carry them off
and the storm shall scatter them.
But you shall rejoice in the Lord,
and glory in the Holy One of Israel.  (Is 41:14b-16)

None of us likes opposition.  None of us likes to be hindered.  None of us likes to feel weak and ineffective.

We can only imagine how the Israelites felt after wandering in the desert for generations.  Not only did they wander, they were beset upon by many different enemies, they endured captivity, and they were sold into slavery.

Probably not even in their wildest dreams would they believe that anything good could happen to them.  And then along came Isaiah, telling them of a promise.  The Lord was going to make them powerful.  They would be able to wield that power against the things that kept them oppressed, that kept them from achieving, that kept them from enjoying their lives.

All because God loved them.

We might not know the kind of suffering that the Israelites endured; however, there are times when we feel as if we were brought low and were powerless to do anything to help ourselves.

The good news is that we do not have to do it by ourselves, we do not have to go it alone.  God, our Champion, is there with us and for us, forging us into a new people, His people.

With God on our side, all things are possible.

FAITH ACTION:  Is there something you need help with in order to accomplish?  Go straight to the Lord and ask Him for His help today.
