We Must Not Wait

“Knowing is not enough; we must apply.  Wishing is not enough; we must do.”
~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

There comes a time when learning and preparing are not enough.  Sure, it is important to learn.  It is also important to prepare oneself for an endeavor.  However, if all we do is accrue more knowledge and refine our preparations but do not actually venture out to get things done, we have done nothing more than waste an incredible amount of our time.  We also will never know whether we could have actually achieved something if we do not set out to get it done.

There are many people like that when it comes to living the faith.  They say to themselves and others, “I am not ready.”  “I need to learn more about helping others.”  “I need to learn more ways to pray.”  While these might all be good, they can also act as stalling tactics so that the person never goes out and attempts ministry or attempts to deepen a prayer life.

We cannot always plan.  There comes a point in time where we must do.  And yes, the doing may be faulty.  We may stumble along the way.  We might even fail.  But, wouldn’t it be great to know that we can or cannot do something instead of constantly talking about attempting it and never making any movement?

Our failures feed future successes just as much as our successes do.  As long as we are open to learn from our experiences, it can all work out for us.

FAITH ACTION:   If there are things that you have been meaning to do for another or to improve yourself, do not put them off any longer.  Begin today.
