Walk In The Light

16 Feb

If you remove from your midst oppression,
false accusation and malicious speech;
If you bestow your bread on the hungry
and satisfy the afflicted;
Then light shall rise for you in the darkness,
and the gloom shall become for you like midday.  (Is 58:9b-10)

When I was young, I was frightened of the dark.

When I say frightened, I mean utterly petrified.

Dark was something to avoid at all costs.  I needed light.  Even at night, I would have to have a night light in my room or the door to the room would have to be left open so that the light from the hallway could come in.

As I grew up, I became accustomed to the dark — to the point that I cannot sleep if there is too much light in the room.

In our spiritual lives, we are called to walk in the light of Christ.  We should be petrified of “the dark”, of sin and the spiritual death that sin brings.

Sadly, as we grow up, we become accustomed to the darkness of sin.  So much so that, for many, the light becomes something to avoid rather than the dark.

We are called to walk in the light.

FAITH ACTION:  God desires to see a change in our lives.  Repentance demands action.  How will you walk in the light today?
