There Will Come The Day

18 Jul

Once I said,
“In the noontime of life I must depart!
To the gates of the nether world I shall be consigned
for the rest of my years.”
I said, “I shall see the Lord no more
in the land of the living.
No longer shall I behold my fellow men
among those who dwell in the world.”
My dwelling, like a shepherd’s tent,
is struck down and borne away from me;
You have folded up my life, like a weaver
who severs the last thread.
Those live whom the Lord protects;
yours is the life of my spirit.
You have given me health and life.  (Is 38:10-12,16)

We so often dwell on death.  It is, after all, a reality that awaits us all.

When we dwell on death, we usually do so with a rather somber attitude.  I have not met many people in my like who were excited about dying.  Some were more happy about the prospect because of the intense suffering they may have had with the illness they bore.  Most, however, looked at death like an unwelcome visitor rather than a welcome guest.

Death may not be welcome by many; but, at the same time, it should not be feared.

Death is going to claim us all.  And when it does, we shall be born to a new life in God.  God will protect us from all that can harm us and will bring us to eternal peace and joy.

Do not fear the end.

It is not an end.

It is a new beginning in Christ!

FAITH ACTION:  This may not be “your day”.  However, there are others who will be called to the Lord this day.  Pray for them, that they may be ready.
