The Time Is Now

“The time to relax is when you don’t have time for it.”  ~ Unknown

There are many people who feel that they do not have time to relax.  There are too many things that need to be accomplished, too many people to be contacted, and too much to see and experience.  I know people like that exist; because, I am one of them.

I am forever looking ahead and fretting about what lies ahead.  I want to plan and to do.  I want to make sure that I am working, working, working.  Because that, after all, is how a person is assessed: by the amount of work that he or she accomplishes.

One can think that.  However, it is not true.

We all need to take time to relax so that we can rejuvenate.  As soon as a person stops whatever he or she is doing, something incredible happens.  Almost immediately, blood pressure will lower, breathing will deepen, senses that are often dulled open up and take in the world around.

When we go at a relentless pace, we take minutes, hours, or days off of our lives.  When we relax, we can regain some of that.  And when we relax, God has a chance to speak to us.  It is when we are hyper-fixed on what lies ahead that we often crowd out God.  He can try to speak to us all He wants; but, we will not be able to hear Him because we have effectively tuned Him out.

Nothing is so important that we should not take some time simply to relax.  Try to find some time to do just that.  You will thank yourself afterward.

FAITH ACTION:  Make sure that you take time today to relax.
