The Great Defender

13 Nov

Defend the lowly and the fatherless;
render justice to the afflicted and the destitute.
Rescue the lowly and the poor;
from the hand of the wicked deliver them.  (Ps 82:3-4)

Sometimes, we forget to ask.

We wonder why people do not do things for us.  We wonder why people are not there for us.  And then it hits us:  we never bothered asking.

It is the same with God.

We oftentimes go through life trying to do things on our own.  We leave God out of the picture.  We do not even bother asking Him to be present to us.

And then we wonder, “What happened?  How did we get in this predicament?”

We forgot to ask God for His help.

The psalmist today asks God to defend the lowly and fatherless and to render justice to the afflicted and the destitute.

Let that be our prayer today as well.  Rescue the lowly and the poor, Lord, and deliver them from the hand of the wicked!

FAITH ACTION:  Pray for the needy today.  If possible, do more than pray for them.  Be the hands of the Lord for someone in need this day.
