The End Is Closer Than You Think

29 Nov

Heaven and earth will pass away,
but my words will not pass away.  (Lk 21:33)

Did you realize that there are only two days left (today and tomorrow) until “the end”?

That’s right.

Tomorrow is the end of the liturgical year.  Sunday begins a new year with the celebration of the First Sunday of Advent.

Because of that, our readings these past couple of weeks have focused on the end of time.

Not many people like to think about the end, especially about their own end.

Yet we know that it is coming.  And for some, perhaps, sooner than they think.

The good news is that God’s Kingdom shall prevail.  He has invited us to be a part of that kingdom.  We, for our part, need to be faithful in this life here on earth so that we may be able to attain eternal life with God.

Yesterday, we celebrated Thanksgiving Day.  Today, we are reminded that thanksgiving should be a regular part of our lives: rendering thanks and praise to God for all that He has done for us, for all that He does for us, and for all that He will do for us.

FAITH ACTION:  Pray for the terminally ill whose end is imminent, that they are at peace with God.
