Take Him With You

“You will find poetry nowhere unless you bring some of it with you.”  ~ Joseph Joubert

It is so true that our attitude makes all the difference in the way our lives are perceived.  If we are a doom and gloom type of people, we will color our world through that lens.  We will not be able to find happiness and fulfillment if all we see is doom and gloom.  Joseph Joubert, a famous French essayist in the late 1700’s, keyed in on that thought when he wrote that “you will find poetry nowhere unless you bring some of it with you.”

As I have shared so often, what applies to our earthly lives also applies to our spiritual lives.  We will find God nowhere unless we bring some of God with us.  If we do not believe in the goodness of God — or even the existence of God Himself — we will not see Him around us.  Even sadder, we will not show Him to the world around us.

God is missing in many parts of society and the world.  He is missing because people have rejected Him and embraced a godless society.  In order for them to be able to see God, they need to see living witnesses of God.

If we do not live our lives of faith, we will fail to be the beacons of light, love, and truth that point to God.  We will fail in the mission entrusted to us. We will also fail ourselves for, if we do not live faithfully, we will soon find ourselves drifting from God and embracing godlessness as well.

It is critical to take a bit of God with us every moment of our lives.  It sustains us in our faith lives and introduces others to the possibility of God as well.

FAITH ACTION:  In all that you say and do today, make sure that you bring the Lord with you so that you may edify the lives of others.
