“If you are what you should be, you will set the whole world ablaze!”
~ St. Catherine of Siena

We are living in a world that is full of sadness, anger, hatred, and unfaithfulness.  The condition of the world often concerns many people.  Some, it downright depresses.  I think it is safe to say that we all wish the world would be different.  Wouldn’t it be great if the world had more love?  More peace?  More mercy?  More understanding?  More faithfulness?

It can.  It begins with each of us.  If we are loving, peaceful, merciful, understanding, and faithful, that is one more person exercising those virtues.  Each additional person makes a difference.  We are reminded of that every time elections come around.  Elections come.  People stay home and do not vote.  They do not like the candidate who wins.  They are often reminded that someone else could have won had more people turned out to vote.

The same holds with living our faith.  Too many people sit at home and lament the shape of the world; yet, they could change the world by doing something about it in their own lives.  If every person decided to do good, to be friendly, to love, to help someone, our world would be a radically different place and a most wonderful place.

Change begins simply.  Change begins with one person.  Will that one person be you?

FAITH ACTION:  Don’t worry about what others say or do today, just be the person that God wants you to be.  That will be enough.

Remember:  Fridays of Lent are Days of Abstinence.
