“Be happy, not because everything is good but because you see the good in everything.”
This really is a very simple secret to happiness. If you want to be happy, find the good in everything and every person. There are plenty of things that we can find wrong in other people and other experiences. If we look hard enough, we’ll find something. It takes a lot of work at times, though.
It usually takes less work to find the good in someone or in something. It is often there, right at the surface, waiting to be discovered. Recognizing the good in others is energizing and addictive. The good that people do makes us want to do good as well. When we do, we feel better about ourselves and that makes it even easier to see good in others which makes us feel even better about ourselves all over again. Instead of a vicious circle downward, it is a happy spiral upward.
I could write much more about this but there’s no real reason to do so. You get the idea. Start looking for the good out there. It exists and is easy to find.
FAITH ACTION: Make sure to look for the good in every person you encounter and every experience you have today.
