O Radiant Dawn

21 Dec

O Radiant Dawn,
splendor of eternal light, sun of justice:
come and shine on those who dwell in darkness and in the
shadow of death.

Death.

It is the ultimate reality, the ultimate equalizer.

All are going to die: rich or poor, young or old, strong or feeble.  It comes to us all.

What we fear is not death; but, darkness.  If there is light on the other side, there is no reason to fear.

Jesus is our light.  Since He gives us new life, He is the radiant dawn, the splendor of eternal light, the sun of justice.

We pray that He shines on us so that He may show us the way.  We pray that He shines on us so that He keeps us from the darkness of eternal death.  We pray that He shines on us so that we may be known as His children.

Shine on, Prince of Peace.

Come, Lord Jesus, come!

FAITH ACTION:  Pray for the faithful departed today — family and friends, fellow parishioners, as well as those who no longer have anyone to pray for them — that they may know the light and love of God.
