Not Even Close To Being Over

6 Feb

Brothers and sisters:
In your struggle against sin
you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood.  (Heb 12:4)

“I have had a really tough week…”

“My life has never been so bad…”

“Things couldn’t possible be worse…”

Oh, yeah?

So many times, we lament what is going on in our lives.  We lament the times in which we live.  We feel really down about ourselves.

However, when we are honest about it, there are many people who suffer more, many people who are more lost, many people who experience pain and loss, many, many more people.

We are not alone.

The letter to the Hebrews reminds us about something else as well, even though we think we are suffering, we are not even close.

After all, how many of us are preparing to be killed for the faith?

How many are preparing to be fed to wild animals, to be introduced to the arena in order to fight to the death, et cetera?

It could be worse.  Much worse.

Now, don’t take that as an excuse to run away, to leave everything behind.

Just take it as a reminder that there are many people out there who suffer more and who are in need of our prayers.

If it comes to the point of us having to shed our own blood, I hope that we would have the grace and courage to say “yes”.

God is definitely worth the sacrifice.

FAITH ACTION:  Pray for those who truly suffer for the faith this day.
