No Need To Be Cautious With God

“We are afraid to care too much, for fear that the other person does not care at all.”
~ Eleanor Roosevelt

From the time we are very young, trust issues are a major part of our lives.  Eleanor Roosevelt summed it up so well.  We often become afraid to care because we are afraid the other person does not care.  Sadly, that comes from being burned one time too many in relationships with other people.  We begin to wonder if we can trust other people and wonder if other people really care.

The truly tragic part of that is we also begin to think that about God.  Since we often apply our human experiences and emotions toward God, we can become fearful that God does not care about us, that God does not love us.  That makes for a very messy spiritual life.

How can we pray to God if we do not trust?  How can we ask God for His love, care, and concern if we are afraid that He will not be there for us when we really need Him?  The answer, quite simply, is that we cannot.

Which is why we need to work on those trust issues with God.  We need to remind ourselves that God is not going to abandon us.  He went out of His way to prove that thousands of years ago when He sent His Son to redeem us.  If Jesus was willing to die on the cross for us, what makes us think that He would ever consider abandoning us or ever not care for us?

God has been, is, and always will be there for you.  Count on that.

FAITH ACTION:  Ask the Lord to increase your trust in the relationship that you have with Him.
