If only

14 Dec

Thus says the Lord, your redeemer,
the Holy One of Israel:
I, the Lord, your God,
teach you what is for your good,
and lead you on the way you should go.
If you would hearken to my commandments,
your prosperity would be like a river,
and your vindication like the waves of the sea;
Your descendants would be like the sand,
and those born of your stock like its grains,
Their name never cut off
or blotted out from my presence.  (Is 48:17-19)

We all want good things, don’t we?

We all want life to go our way.  We want predictability.  We want reward.  We want, we want, we want.

Some of the “stuff” we want is, actually, good for us.

A lot of the other things that we go for in life, admittedly, are not so good.

What do we need to do in order to to differentiate the good things from the bad?

We need to heed God’s commandments.

After all, He didn’t give them to us to hinder us but to help us.  We often treat them as hindrances.

Instead, we need to learn to embrace God’s laws.  All of them.  Not just the ones we want.

FAITH ACTION:  Are there commandments of God that you tend to ignore?  Ask God to give you the grace to embrace them today.
