How Badly Do You Want It?

23 Jan

“When you know what you want, and want it bad enough, you will find a way to get it.”
~ Jim Rohn

We probably all know people or know of people who wanted something so badly that they were willing to do anything in order to get what they wanted.  Perhaps someone wanted a part in a movie and it involved the loss or the gain or an incredible amount of weight.  They did what they needed to do to secure the part.  Perhaps someone wanted to play professional sports.  They did whatever was necessary in order to be the best at the sport in order to be selected.  The examples go on and on.

How many people want to be the best Christian, the best witness to Jesus Christ, that there is?  I would think that if that question were asked in a crowded room, many people would put their heads down in shame because, truth be told, they may have thought about being a lot of things; but, being an exemplary Christian may not have been high on their list.

Why not?  We should desire that above all other things.  Yet, in these mortal bodies in this sinful world, we often encounter distractions and other lures of the world that tempt us and invite us to make other choices, choices that may lead us away from God.  We must be willing to keep ourselves strong in the faith so that we can resist these temptations.

That is why we should center ourselves, first and foremost each morning, on our true goal: eternity with God.  With our eyes on that goal, it will be easier to make the choices that we need to make in our daily lives.  If we take our eyes off of that goal, we could be distracted too easily.

How badly do we want the Kingdom?  Badly enough to shrug from sin and keep our eyes fixed on the prize?

FAITH ACTION:  Do whatever it takes to draw closer to the Lord today.
